Discontinued 💀. But it is still deployed here: contractorfaq
🎯 Goals
- Collect and share FAQs about freelance contracting in Switzerland.
- Enforce the habit of creating (as opposed to consuming) and (try to) provide value to someone. Anyone.
- And as an effect: get more comfortable with exposing myself/my projects.
- Keep the project simple (I tend to invest too much time into projects). Low cost and no fancy frameworks.
👍 Noteworthy
- Duration: October 2022 - October 2023
- Total effort: ~ 15h
- 💀-reason: There was not much interest in the content, at least that is my conclusion from the analytics. Not worth to pay the domain name.
- 💝: I got a 'thank you' from a handful of people. So I managed to provide value to someone 😁✔️
- 💡 and greatest challenge: 'marketing'. I suck at it.
🤔 Thoughts

At its core, this is a simple project, but it contains parts which in themselves are somewhat challenging to me.
For example, one goal was to keep the project simple. This is of course subjective. What does simple mean? For someone who has no experience in programming, creating a page might already be too complex. But I added this point to my mental checkbox, because I noticed that I tend to invest too much time into projects. One of the reasons this happens is that I get lost in the rabbit hole of different technologies. Often I think about trying out new languages, frameworks or platforms and this leads to bloating of the project scope.
Investing a lot of time into something is not a bad thing in itself. However, it comes with different costs: opportunity cost and greater chance of sunk costs
Since I discontinue the project, I am glad I only invested a few hours into it.
Anyways... kept the project really simple, just HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
Regarding marketing: I found it actually easier to tell people about the project in person than doing it online. It just feels so cheesy. Why I wonder... is it because I am/we are exposed to so much marketing/advertisement throughout the day, that trying to do so myself feels wrong?
